In most dental practices, the process of creating and placing restorations such as crowns, veneers, and bridges was an extensive progression that took several days, even weeks, to complete from start to finish. However, continued advances in dental technology allow Dr. Darren Gonzalez and his team in Santa Rosa, California to create dental restorations such as these with modern solutions. When it comes to creating porcelain restorations for the smile, our team of professionals can provide same-day solutions with CEREC.

What does CEREC stand for?

Dr. Darren Gonzalez is pleased to offer CEREC solutions for the smile. CEREC is an acronym for “Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic.” This revolutionary technology allows patients to avoid the way for final restorations coming from dental laboratories and instead have their restoration created and placed in less than 20 minutes. No more waiting for a laboratory to create the perfect crown, or waiting weeks for a dental bridge to come in from a ceramist states away!

How does CEREC work?

CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology and software to complete restorations from start to finish. First, patients are prepared for their restoration. This often requires the removal of a thin portion of the natural tooth enamel. Once this has been done, digital impressions are done and transferred to our CEREC computer software. The dentist can make any changes through the software program, and then mill the new restoration out of a block of porcelain that matches the patient’s current smile. Once the restoration is complete, the dentist can then place the restoration over the natural tooth and complete the process—all in one visit! This makes most dental procedures fast and simple with such advanced technology available!
